Mongolian Block Print with Silk Brocade, Tsongkhapa with his "Line of Teachers"

Painted on silk with silk surrounding this uniquely Mongolian block print depicting Tsongkhapa (founder of the Gelug Order) center. He bears a small figure of the Adi Buddha on his chest and is central to the "Line of Teachers" prolifically illustrated throughout the work. Called a "Refuge Tree," the notion is that this presentation should be seen as a safe refuge for believers.

Condition
Age appropriate wear including creasing and surface abrasion, as well as some pigment loss and discoloration.

Measurements
Brocade approximately 38" height X 20" width -- Block print approximately 21" height X 14" width
